The Valkyrie and the Ulfric//open

"You might be currently with one" Astrid said teasingly with a smirk, when he said that he would try and seduce women if he could go into human form she laughed a little "I have a feeling if you could take on a human form you wouldn't need to try hard to seduce anyone". When he snickered about her not being allowed to be drunk around the suitors she sighed a little "They're allowed to get drunk" Astrid said shaking her head, "I'm not allowed to I need to be delicate and sweet. And sober to serve them mead when they ask for it" she added rolling her eyes. "I'm liking your company" Astrid said with a shrug when he said she seemed to be at least tolerating being around him.

Arvin arched an eye brow, "Really now? I might want to meet one of these women. Unless I currently am meeting one now." He crooked his head back to the rudimentary bed in the corner of the cabin, "Stealing women away? I don't think I could do that myself if I could take a human shape. Try and seduce, perhaps." He added in thinking of what sort of form he would take if he could indeed change his appearance. He snickered at the mention of unable to be drunk with suitors, "So they're all a bunch of bores then? At least I may understand a bit on why you seem to like, or at least tolerate, being around a beast."

Astrid nodded her head slowly as he spoke "You'd be surprised about how many women might just want to jump in bed with an Ulfric". When he explained that if he could he didn't know how, "Huh. And here I was raised with tales of how Ulfric's could take on human form and steal away women" she laughed. When he asked how much of a lightweight she was Astrid crinkled her nose at him a little "I normally can drink quite well...I just haven't drunk a lot for sometime" she said with a shake of her head. "Can't be drunk while meeting suitors" Astrid said rolling her eyes.

Arvin scratched at the floor with her addition, "I wouldn't quite say that I'm interesting. Just an oddity really." He added in though still felt quite flattered with the way she seemed to be stroking his ego. He glanced over to Astrid with a chuckle echoing from his throat again, "Well, meet for the novelty perhaps. Not many I know about that would be willing to go to bed with an Ulfric. Again, big tall and furry." Arvin shrugged his shoulders to her last question, "If we can, no one taught me. So just sort of stuck like this. Not that I mind all that really. I'd feel so inadequate in human shape and size." He paused for a moment just looking Astrid in the eye, "Just how much of a lightweight are you?" He playfully jabbed since she seemed to be loosening her tongue.

She took note of the mischievous look and she couldn't help but grin at him, "Getting drunk can be fun" she said with a delicate shrug of her shoulders. "Well maybe it should be, you are quite interesting after all" Astrid said smiling. Watching as he relaxed his legs and she giggled a little when he explained that it was hard to find a woman who didn't scream at the sight of him, "Ah you just haven't been around the right women apparently. There are a lot of women who are around who like the idea of meeting an Ulfric". Looking around for a moment Astrid remember some of the tales she had heard when she was a child about Ulfric's being able to become human and she returned her attention to Arvin "Can you turn human?" she blurted out quizzically without explaining why she was asking.

Arvin shrugged his shoulders with a mischievous look as he casually rolled his eyes, "Well, if you want to then that's all well and good. You seem to need it more than I." He watched as she did just as he suggested and finished off what was left with little actual trouble. It almost looked like it had an immediate effect as she stretched and relaxed, only to ask the question, "Oh, no real reason. Just sort of don't fit in with humans. Big, tall and furry isn't exactly on everyone's minds when they think of the next door neighbor." He relaxed his legs down and leaned back, "Well, that and it's very hard to find a woman that doesn't scream for the man with an axe when she sees you. You're quite possibly the first one in the last decade to do so."

Astrid chuckled when he said the he would be a poor host if he made her sleep on the floor "Just a slightly poor host" she said smirking "No offence taken". Watching as he shook the gourd she raised a brow when he suggested she finish off the rest "You trying to get me drunk?" Astrid questioned playfully just wanting to tease him a little. Picking up the gourd AStrid looked away from him as she placed it against her lips and tipped her head backwards downing the rest of the mead without pause, once it was finished she placed it back down and stretched her arms above her head with a happy sigh as she looked over at Arvin "Why do you live alone?" she asked gently tipping her head to the side.

Arvin nodded in confirmation, "Then starting tomorrow we go ahead and start the hunt for the other cabin in the woods." He mentioned watching Astrid as she relaxed more with the alcohol's effects, "What can I say? I would be a poor host if I made my guest sleep on the ground. And I'm sure I can take sleeping on the ground more than you. No offense intended of course." He lifted the gourd up and shook it to gauge how much was left. Not enough for another of his swigs, but enough for Astrid to have a few mouth fulls, "Why don't you polish the rest off?" He suggested setting it back down in front of her, "Might help you get proper sleep when that time comes around."

"Help would be nice" Astrid said with with a nod of her head and a gracious smile, when he said the he could let her sleep on his bed instead of the dirt she placed her hands behind herself and leaned back on them comfortably "That is a very kind offer of you I must say". Waiting until he had taken a swig from the gourd Astrid reached out and took it from his hands and took a slightly bigger drink than she had been doing before she handed it back to him. She was enjoying the taste of the mead and she could feel it starting to give her a soft warm buzz through her body making her feel happy and content.

Arvin was silent for a moment while he let the information pass through and run through his mind, "Well, maybe I can help you out on that part. I don't exactly have a lot of major responsibilities right at this moment." He placed the skewer back above the flames, "And while it's a little cramped in here to stay in for too long, I'm sure I can let you sleep on my bed until we've scouted out every inch of the woods. It's more comfortable than sleeping in the dirt." He reached for the mead and took another swig from the gourd.

When he reminded her of the fact that she had been taken down by a branch Astrid shot a glare at him a little, "A spar between us would be interesting. But I agree, some guards might see it and take it the wrong way". Taking another piece of meat when he offered but the skewer again she gave a soft smile when he asked about if she had a place she planned to go if she didn't go back, "My mother actually used to live in the forest before she married my father. She used to tell me that her father built a large cabin for his family" Astrid started slowly as she glanced at Arvin "If I can find it...I'd live there".

Arvin shrugged his shoulders in an exaggerated manner with the mention of 'looks can be deceiving', "I suppose you're right there. Wouldn't mind seeing what you can do when you aren't getting swatted off your horse by a low hanging branch," He pulled a large chunk of deer meat free and popped it into his maw, "Maybe a little spar between the two of us, but knowing my luck some guards or something like that will spot it and think I'm attacking you." He pulled off the second chunk and popped it up like the previous one before offering the skewer once more, "Thinking about it, any place you plan on staying if you decide you don't want to go back? I'd offer my cabin, but it's a little tight in here just with me in here as it is."

"The woodsmen aren't all that smart to be honest" Astrid giggled, watching as he poked his claw at the meat testing it she raised a brow when he said that she looked too delicate to be a valkyrie "Looks can be deceiving" she stated. "As I am sure you know" she added as she took the first piece when he pulled the skewers off of the spit, taking a bite of the meat Astrid glanced over at Arvin "I've trained with my fathers guard since I was a child so if I ever needed to fight would be able to" Astrid said as she continued to eat the meat and watch him out of the corner of her eye stopping every now and again to sip the mead slowly.

Arvin snickered with her own addition, "Well, maybe you should talk to all those big, buff woodsmen. They seem to think I'm the big monster of the woods that wants to eat people." His claw shifted the gourd closer to Astrid for her to go ahead and have another drink, "If that's what you want, then that's what you want." He stated before poking a claw at the deer meat on the skewer to judge how done it was, "Though if I had to say anything, you look a little too delicate to be a valkyrie. The ones I know of are all battle hardened warriors unless you're a lot stronger than you look." He pulled the skewers off the spit with a gesture for her to take the first piece.

"I prefer to be alone since I'm always being hounded by people" Astrid said with a shake of her head before she gave a laugh at his words of a big scary wolfman roaming around, "Not so sure about you being a scary wolfman" she joked. When he offered to escort her back Astrid sighed a little "To be honest I don't really want to go back. Here I'm not being hounded by suitors and people who believe that I am a Valkyrie" she said with a shake of her head as she picked up a gourd and sipped a little more of it before she placed it back down.

Arvin smirked seeing Astrid start sipping on the fluid in the gourd, "Not the brightest thing ever to be honest. No weapon, no escort and you're riding around in the neck of the woods that has the big scary wolfman roaming around." He spoke letting Astrid have a small amount more before extending a paw out to take his turn with the mead gourd, "Though you may have had a pass on that last bit seeing I'm that big scary wolfman." Once he got a hold of his gourd he took several long gulps and set it down once more, "If you want an escort back then perhaps I can serve you there."

"I see no point in beating around the bush so to speak" Astrid said with a smile, looking at the gourd when he said that he didn't have any cups she gave a nod of her head "That's okay". Looking at it for a moment longer she picked it up carefully "Since you say it's so strong I'll drink slowly" she said with a playful grin as she took a sip from the gourd, it had been sometime since she had drunk mead but she was eager to see how strong Arvin's mead was. Placing the gourd back down she gave him a small smile "I find riding without an escort calming. It's nice just to be by myself" Astrid said softly.

Arvin was silent for a moment when she stated it as she did, then came the laugh, "That was a little more straightforward than I assumed, but if that's how you work then I am not going to complain." His wolven smile bared his fangs out once more as he calmed himself down. It was when she agreed to a talk with mead that his eyebrow lifted, "Alright then, but just to warn you. My mead is very strong. Might hit you a little fast." He warned before a simple shift to a large gourd on the table near the fire, "I don't have any cups, so you're just going to have to drink it from the gourd."

Astrid shrugged a little when he said that she didn't freak out when they first spoke "Well, there was no reason for me to freak out since you helped me" she said smiling. When he said that he knew she was a princess she looked down at the ground a little as she sat down on the floor comfortably, when he offered her mead to talk about why she decided to ride without an escort "I think talking over some mead would be interesting" Astrid chuckled knowing that if she had a little too much mead she would become a chatterbox.

Arvin poked at the meat as it cooked over the flames, "Don't sell your entire race short. You aren't all a bunch of savages that hunt what you don't understand. You didn't freak out when we first started our little conversation for a start." He asked with the small smile curled in the corner of his mouth, "Your exact type, not necessarily. I don't find many princesses that just go and take a ride on the road unescorted." He answered wrapping his arms around his knees while he watched both the food and the flames steadily growing as the fat still on the meat dripped off and sparked off in the flames, "Mind telling me why you decided on that? Maybe over some mead?"

"Technically it's not" Astrid agreed with a cheeky laugh, when he came back inside Astrid moved away from the window and leaned her back against the wall a little and shook her head slightly "Not really, no" she said with a shrug of her shoulders "Your type tend to avoid mine. Understandable really since some humans aren't very nice". Reaching up to her head Astrid ran her fingers through her hair shifting it away form her face as she watched what Arvin was doing with interest, "I guess though, you see a lot of my type around" she said with a small smile. Even just the sight of the raw meat waiting to be roasted over the fire was making her mouth water and her stomach rumble with anticipation of eating.

Outside Arvin, with practiced ease began cutting and cleaning the kill out. His muscles shifted with each exertion and each shift of a rough crafted knife that had formerly been stuck an inch deep in one of the several stumps littered about where the cabin had been built. One eye peeked over his shoulder with a smirk when he spotted Astrid watching him, "I suppose that's not technically strenuous." He called to her in a more playful manner as he got the meat separated from the bones where it could be cut free. With each new cut, the meat fell into a wicker basket set on the ground to catch. Once finished he slammed the knife back into the stump and brought the meat inside, "Don't see much of my type?" He asked setting the basket near to the crackling flame and getting through the process of roasting it over the open flame.

Astrid smiled when he said that he had built it himself "Well it looks very good for you building it yourself" she said with a soft laugh. When he said that it wouldn't be very kindly if he left her alone there where she had fallen but she doubted that many other people would have helped her if they had come across her. When he spoke about lunch Astrid gave a nod of her head "Food sounds absolutely wonderful to be honest". When Arvin told her to take it easy and not do anything strenuous she couldn't help but giggle a little "I'll take it easy" Astrid promised and when he went outside to take care of the deer she got up and peeked under the leather flap to watch him.

Arvin couldn't help but to let a prideful chuckle echo from his throat, "Glad you like it. Built it myself some decade ago." He spoke just about glowing with pride on that subject. Though when she thanked him, his boastful self eased up, "Think nothing of it." He started before sitting down next to the blanket, "Wouldn't be very kingly of me if I just let a young woman alone to the elements. Or gods only knows what else." His eyes started to flick to the deer still on the floor, "How about I get lunch started up? I'm sure you're hungry after your little ordeal." He spoke jumping back to his paws to clean and take care of his fresh kill, "Just take it easy and try not to do anything overly strenuous." The wolf-man mentioned before walking back outside to take care of the messy part of the butchering not far from a leather flap that acted as the window.

Astrid reached up and held onto the leather pouch when he brought it to her lips and she drank slowly like he had told her do. Once she had had her fill she sighed happily and wiped the back of her hand across her lips getting rid of the water that had dribbled from her mouth a little, looking at his face when he gave his name and stated he was Ulfric she tipped her head to the side a little "Avrin" she said lightly testing out his name. "Whilst it may not be a palace it is still a lovely place" Astrid said with small nod of her head "And, thank you.. for caring for me".
