Sennett looked out over the water, as the ship pulled into the private dock of the palace. The trip from the summer residence of the court had taken two weeks, and yet it could have went on longer for the princess. Returning to the capital would mean being under the ever-watching eyes of the Council. Ever since the moon had taken on a constant red tinge at night, the Council had been watching Sennett very closely. They had become so paranoid with her safety, that they had her father reassign the guard she had since she was sixteen, _____.

_____ had become such a permanent, always present fixture in her life, that it had taken her quite some time to get used to the change. It had been six months now, and the most jarring reminder of how controlled by others her life felt, had been the passing on her twenty-first birthday. Where her parties use to be big, extravagant affairs, this one had been very small, involving only her father and the summer palace staff. When the crown heir turned twenty-one, there was supposed to be a passing of the crown, signifying the heir’s readiness to assume the throne. This was made even worse by the fact that when she asked her father about it, he was very evasive.

Feeling the ship beneath her feet give a little shudder as it settled into the dock, Sennett let out a soft sigh and pushed off of the starboard railing, standing straight. As the crew moved around rapidly, she weaved easily through them. Approaching the opposite aide of the ship expecting to see people from the palace, maybe even _____, but she was disappointed, and a little annoyed at what she saw. All that were present for their return was the King’s Guard, with _____ being the most glaring difference to the usual line up. Just what was going on? With the Council’s odd behavior, and her father refusing to answer her questions, Sennett was finding herself getting more and more angry.
